Junior Service League of Shawnee Awards Over $10K to Local Nonprofits

From puppies to produce to preschoolers, Junior Service League of Shawnee doesn't play favorites when it comes to giving back. The Shawnee-based group recently hand delivered more than $10,000 in community grants to nonprofits across Pottawatomie County, spreading support across a wide range of causes.

What makes the grants especially notable is where the money comes from. If you bought a ticket to Ragin' Beach Bash or played a round at Mahjong at the Museum, you helped write those checks too. Both events double as a fun night out for Shawnee and a direct funding source for local nonprofits, meaning every ticket sold translates almost directly into dollars landing in the hands of organizations already doing the work on the ground.

So, give yourself a hand for having a good time and doing some good. This is what it looks like when a community shows up for itself.
