Mission Tecumseh Gives Free School Supplies to Local Kids

Back to school season is in full swing across Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, and the Tecumseh community showed once again why it's one of the best places around to raise a family.

Before the first bell rang this year, Mission Tecumseh hosted its 12th annual Back to School Bash, and families from all over Tecumseh turned out in a big way to kick off the school year on a high note.

Doors opened at 9 am, and kids had the chance to pick out their own school supplies for the year ahead — everything they needed to start the year prepared and confident. For many Tecumseh families, that head start makes all the difference once the school year gets underway.

The event ran smoothly thanks to dozens of volunteers who gave their time to make sure every family who came through felt welcomed and cared for. Volunteers helped hand out supplies, kept the hot dogs, watermelon, and water flowing throughout the morning, and ran an arts and crafts station to keep kids entertained between stops.

Events like this are a reminder of what makes Tecumseh special. Year after year, Mission Tecumseh brings the community together to make sure local kids start the school year set up for success, and this year's Back to School Bash was no exception.

Way to go, Mission Tecumseh!
