Tecumseh Round Up Club Donates 147 Crates of Squash to Community

Sometimes good news shows up in the most unexpected way — like the back of a semi truck.

That's exactly what happened this week in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, when 147 crates of squash landed at the Tecumseh Round Up Club, and the nonprofit came together to make sure none of it went to waste.

The squash arrived by way of truck driver Billy Bazmore, who was hauling the load from Mexico. Walmart had ordered a different variety of squash, and when this shipment didn't match, the order was refused. Rather than let a truck full of good produce go to waste, Billy's company told him it needed to go to a nonprofit. Billy made a call to the Tecumseh Round Up Club, and the answer was simple: bring it on out.

The crates were unloaded entirely by hand at the Round Up Club arena, and word spread fast. Within an hour and a half, the squash was distributed to families from Tecumseh and surrounding communities, all free of charge.

The turnout said it all. Neighbors showed up ready to load up on fresh squash, and the excitement in the air was contagious. Everyone could already picture the good cooking headed to kitchen tables across the area.

It's a great example of what can happen when good timing meets good people. A truckload that could have gone to waste instead became a classic Pottawatomie County community moment, all because one phone call led to the right place.
