Two Shawnee Nonprofits Receive Much-Needed Car Seat Donations

Behind the scenes in Shawnee, one organization has been quietly making sure the county's youngest residents have what they need. Lately, that's meant a whole lot of car seats.
Legacy Parenting Center has continued strengthening community partnerships through its Family Resource Center work, stepping in wherever a gap shows up. Recently, that meant two separate requests landing in the same week. Uplift Mentoring needed car seats to safely transport kids in its after school program, and Heritage Church needed car seats for volunteers with its Safe Families program. Rather than choose between the two, Legacy Parenting Center found a way to meet both needs, making sure babies across Shawnee had a safe way to get where they needed to go.

The support didn't stop there. When Legacy Parenting Center learned that Community Health Center of Shawnee was running low on supplies for its Healthy Start program, they stepped in again — sharing hundreds of diapers, clothing items, bottles, and other baby essentials to help keep the program stocked.
It's the kind of behind-the-scenes work that rarely makes headlines but makes a real difference for families across Pottawatomie County. Car seats mean safer rides. Diapers and supplies mean one less thing for a new parent to worry about, and partnerships like these mean no single organization has to carry the weight alone.
The community is truly stronger when everyone works together.
